The Summer School is a venue for collective and individual reflection. It will be an opportunity to promote institutional change and contribute to rebuilding resilience in the contexts defined.

Aims

Participants will gain practical knowledge about effective mechanisms for implementing education in fragile contexts. The dialogue, debate, tools and guidance will inform policy and improve practice and support educationists to build on existing resilience in their own settings.

Themes

  • Fragile contexts: reframing the debate - rebuilding resilience.
  • The effects of fragility on the education sector and taking preventive measures: examples from the field, including from the Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) Education Cluster of how education can act as an early warning barometer.
  • Effective education programmes in different fragile contexts: examples from the field and from history.
  • Planning simulation education interim strategies or sector plans: steps towards resilience in different contexts.
  • Capacity development in different fragile contexts.
  • Responding to challenges in implementation.
  • Monitoring and evaluation: new technology for data collection and monitoring.
  • Resource mobilization: using the FTI and other education funds.
  • Opportunities for innovation: case studies and examples from the field, including use of new technology
  • Conclusions: next steps towards encouraging resilience
